June 14 Happy Birthday to the Portland Observatory! 200 years! WOW! In celebration of one of my favorite landmarks, I am going to do a Portland Observatory series of 8 paintings. Here is the first ... flag day! So colorful & festive. Today you got free admission, so I took advantage & went up for an afternoon lookout. The Observatory was used to watch ships come in--flag signals were used to notify merchants in the port of the arrival of the different ships. So cool.
