May 6 I woke up to DENSE fog & even though the church tower was right under my nose I could barely make it out ... and then a couple of hours later the fog had burned off revealing a gorgeous day & the deconstruction of the Saint Lawrence that is under way. Part of the church is being taken down because if it's not taken down it will fall down ... it's an amazing construction that structurally couldn't support itself. So they are disassembling it & then the plan is to reassemble it. My fingers are crossed that it goes smoothly -- I adore the church--it's what I look out on from my studio.
