Painting still lifes outside under a tree with a
cool ocean breeze blowing by is a treat ... and
it’s the only way I’ve been able to paint this
week. Phew! HOT! Today I grabbed a few cherries
to paint & a big bowl to eat & I went to
town. I hope you get to enjoy a big bowl of
cherries too!

Local Organic Strawberries • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75
Yesterday we walked down to the farmers’ market
in Monument Square & took in all of the
beautiful color! There is nothing more inspiring
than a gorgeous Summer day & fresh veggies
& fruit ... Ahhhhhhhhh! I was with my 3 year
old niece & we couldn’t resist a basket of
organic strawberries. We came home & washed
them & then went on to eat some and make
banana strawberry smoothies & raw vegan
strawberry ice cream. YUMMY!

Veggie Bliss • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75
I can’t tell you how excited I am
about having a garden! This morning I picked some
beet greens, spinach & radish! I will make a
yummy salad for lunch. Here’s a painting of some
gorgeous veggies in my strainer after being
washed ... including my very own radishes!
Yippppeeeee! Here’s to a yummy salad. Do you have
a favorite salad? Mine changes from day to day,
but I love tahini & almond butter
dressings!

Today I am celebrating the start of my new
healthy food business, Girl Gone Raw! I am a certified
raw food chef & I am now offering classes
in my studio. I thought I’d celebrate today
with a painting of some veggies from the
farmers’ market. I did this painting awhile
back, but it is a favorite of mine &
appropriate for today.

What a day! I was sitting out in the back yard
admiring the forsythia popping over the fence
& I realized I had the subject of today’s
painting. I cut a few branches & put
them in my pretty, purple vase & painted
out in the sunshine. Today is an all around
PERFECT day--I love spring days like this!

Papaya Cut Open • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75
I haven’t had a whole lot of experience eating
papaya & I always associated it with a sweet
juicy mango ... well, the papaya is not similar
at all to the mango. It is milder and not as
sweet in flavor & is pretty stinky, although
stunning in color! We’ve been making papaya
steaks seasoned with a teriyaki sauce & some
nice spices on top--it’s a really good dish! The
more I cut into papaya, the more I like it &
the offensive smell of it has kind of grown on
me.
