My name is Elizabeth Fraser & I am a painter from Portland, Maine. I started doing 8 square paintings a week on January 15, 2006 & haven't looked back! On the 2nd anniversary of my daily painting project, I decided to switch up my routine a bit & not limit myself to the 5x5 inch oil on paper format that I had followed for 829 paintings ... I will continue on with the square format, but will now work with different sizes, from 5x5 to 30x30. Each painting is available for sale directly from this site for 1 week & then it goes into my e-bay store. My daily commission pieces will continue to be 5x5 inch, oil on paper paintings, matted to a standard size of 11x14 for $75 plus $5 shipping.

Goodbye For Now • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75

Goodbye For Now

This morning, after coming home from my walk with the dogs, I walked down Congress to look back at the St. Lawrence Church and the bell tower one last time. What an extraordinary building. The dismantling preparations started yesterday & I knew that at the end of the day my studio muse would not look the same (my studio looks out on the church). In fact, as I type I can see the crane at work & hear the slate roof & debris being gathered. So goodbye for now, my dear friend. I hope to see you watching over the neighborhood again, in the not so distant future.

I will donate a percentage of my daily painting sales for the next month to the rehabilitation of the Saint Lawrence.

Afternoon at the Saint Lawrence • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75

1 Day at the Saint Lawrence

I woke up to DENSE fog & even though the church tower was right under my nose I could barely make it out ... and then a couple of hours later the fog had burned off revealing a gorgeous day & the deconstruction of the Saint Lawrence that is under way. Part of the church is being taken down because if it's not taken down it will fall down ... it's an amazing construction that structurally couldn't support itself. So they are disassembling it & then the plan is to reassemble it. My fingers are crossed that it goes smoothly -- I adore the church--it's what I look out on from my studio.
