March Sunrise, 2010 • 8x8 • oil on canvas • $115
I couldn’t reisit painting the gorgeous sunrise I
witnessed yesterday on the Eastern Prom ...
everything was so still & the light was
warming. Walks like this one make me so grateful
& happy to wake up on Munjoy Hill!

Nighttime at a Bar Harbor Inn • 12x12 • oil on canvas • $175
I’m sharing another 12x12 painting from last year
(reg price is $200)--I really needed another day to
regroup & work on some commission work. I love
the moodiness of this nighttime painting. It’s a
scene from an evening walk in Bar Harbor ... I just
couldn’t resist the lights & the great angles
of this charming yellow Victorain Inn.

Morning Light on Bailey Island • 12x12 • oil on canvas • $175
I am sharing one of my favorite 12x12 paintings
today of Bailey Island in the morning sun. I think
this piece has the New England Coast written all
over it with the quaint oceanside village & all
of the fishing boats in the harbor. I love the
charm of it! I am posting it for $175 plus shipping
(normally $200) ... enjoy!

Twilight on the Beach • 5x5 • oil on canvas
We took the pups to Pine Point last night at
twilight & it was so beautiful out. The ocean
air & crashing surf were invigorating & the
sky was gorgeous. We all felt so free on the beach
... especially the pups! They were so cute running
along the water’s edge. Happiness!

Malibu Beach • oil on canvas • $75
I just got back from a 3 hour workshop on goal
setting from the inside out & we did some
guided imagery exercises that took me to a tropical
beach ... I really felt like I was walking on the
warm sand with the sea breeze blowing in my hair. I
left the workshop energized & rejuvenated. I
got back to my studio & started to paint
daffodils, but the ocean calling was stronger. I
wiped the flowers off of the canvas & headed to
Malibu Beach, which is pretty much where I was a
year ago at this time. Now that I am done painting,
guess where I am headed? Yep, to the beach ...
although not a tropical beach, it will feel so
good! ![]()

On Sunset Pond, Borestone Mountain • 5x5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I had some folks in my studio earlier today &
we were talking about Borestone Mountain which made
me think back to my autumn getaway. I had no choice
but to dive into a Borestone painting of an early
morning view of the mountain from Sunset Pond. So
peaceful, so pretty!

Dessert at Grezzo • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75
I had a really great 4 days at Alissa Cohen’s
Living on Live Food Teacher Certification Class!
It’s hard to put into words what the experience was
like ... it was so many things, from inspiring
& intense to joyful & mind blowing to
DELICIOUS! We ended the workshop with a 12 hour day
in Boston at Grezzo, her raw vegan restaurant in
the North End, and everything about the day was
pretty cool--the chefs were so talented & full
of information. We ended the night with some
fabulous desserts ... this was a chocolate meringue
served with their homemade gelato ... the
presentation was exquisite as was the taste.
YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!

WILD WEATHER & NO POWER (no dp)
What a storm we had! I’ve never heard wind &
rain like that before ... well, maybe the Patriot’s
Day storm a few years back. Our power went out last
night & is still out now, so I am at the
Eastland Park (where my partner’s massage practice
is) to warm up, take a shower & post to my
blog. Here’s a picture of my Fraser Art Studio sign
that flew off the fence & traveled down the
street where it smashed into a tree. It’s too cold
to paint in my studio & I am also getting ready
for an intensive 4 day raw food class with Alissa
Cohen ... I am so excited! I have a few long days
ahead of me so I will probably not be posting a
painting again until Tuesday. Have a great weekend
everyone & stay cozy!
Tubes of Paint • 5x5 • oil on canvas • $75
Today the brightest thing around is my cheerful
studio & my art supplies! It’s pouring &
blustery out & I am grateful for all of the
color on my walls & in my tubes of paint. It
was so wild out last night that the wind &
sound of the rain woke me up from a dead sleep
& I was very disoriented because I thought I
was hearing the ocean waves crashing agaist the
shore ... it took me a minute to realize that I
wasn’t at a beach house & that it was just the
sound of wild wind & rain outside . Anyways,
here’s to a studio still life of my tubes of paint.
I love paint!

Fonzi is ALWAYSin my studio with me. He loves the
great light that comes in & he also loves the

canvas or grab my digital camera, he comes poking
over & sits beside me. He’s such an
affectionate kitty & he just want up on my lap
... always at the most inopportune times! He is a
cat, afterall!

Stars Over Sugarloaf • 5x5 • oil on canvas • SOLD
I decided to do a painting of Sugarloaf in honor of
Maine’s gold medal winner, Seth Wescott. What an
awesome run he had last night! I have only been to
Sugarloaf once & it was so fun & beautiful.
I couldn’t resist doing a starry night scene with
the silhouette of the mountain. Isn’t that what our
Olympic athletes are, STARS? I think so! Wishing
Julia Clukey a great day today, too!
I just LOVE the Olympics!

the things I love this morning ... there are so
many wonderful thing in life ... and the fishing
shacks came to mind. So, I decided I would paint my
love for the moody nighttime coast of Maine &
the fishing shacks at Willard Beach on this
Valentine’s Day.
I haven’t been on any fun
coastal excursions lately because I am nursing
a foot injury & have had to lay low. I am
on the mend & look forward to some great
walks on the coast soon!

I also wanted to say that I will try to be a better
proof reader.

How I travel light with
my paints
Recently I was asked
how I am able to hop on my bike with my paints, so
I thought I’d share my set up with you. It’s simple
& works for me whether I am on bike or hike ...
and cost me next to nothing!
Meet my paint box & my canvas box. My paint box
is just an old stationery box with a drawer where I
can keep 1 little 5x5 canvas & some business
cards. My palette is a piece of cardboard with wax
paper wrapped around it. I always fill my palette
with fresh paint before heading out on an
excursion. My canvas box is a box of 5x5 canvases
& I added spacers to it so I can carry wet
paintings in it.
I keep my paints in a tackle box, so if I travel
for a week or so I can bring it to keep at my home
base! I tuck a few of my favorite brushes in a
water bottle & of course my paint thinner in a
jar. If I’m going away for a weekend or more, I’ll
bring several jars & my paint thinner.
All of my goodies fit in my lil’ LL BEan tote bag:
my paint box with full palette, my canvas box with
blank canvases, my jar of paint thinner, my bottle
of brushes & a rag or two.
And my bag fits right in the basket on my bike, so
I can go anywhere! And if I’m hiking, I take a back
pack with all of these items instead of my tote.
Piece of cake & lots of fun!
