Another view of Penobscot Bay from from up high on the
Lookout rock of the Oakland House. The Maine Coast is
simply amazing--so many islands, so much rocky
coastline! And as you already know, I can never resist
it--it's so beautiful!

This morning, after coming home from my walk with the
dogs, I walked down Congress to look back at the St.
Lawrence Church and the bell tower one last time. What
an extraordinary building. The dismantling preparations
started yesterday & I knew that at the end of the
day my studio muse would not look the same (my studio
looks out on the church). In fact, as I type I can see
the crane at work & hear the slate roof &
debris being gathered. So goodbye for now, my dear
friend. I hope to see you watching over the
neighborhood again, in the not so distant future.
I will donate a percentage of my daily painting sales
for the next month to the rehabilitation of the Saint
Lawrence.

What a cutie pie ... such a little hammie for the
picture. Greta makes for a loving little lap dog,
doesn't she? I just wanna cuddle with her!

This morning was so much fun ... I was sitting on the
couch thinking that I should get outside & paint,
so I opened the front door to look out & a woman
had pulled up & was unloading her paints right in
front of the house. I joined her & we had a ball
all morning long ... we painted in silence, we talked,
we laughed and we visited with all of Sunday morning
passersby. My neighbor, Lillian, walked over to say hi
after grabbing a cup of coffee at the coffee shop. We
chit chatted for a couple of minutes & then she
went on her way. A bit later Lillian returned with a
poem she had written about us & it sums up the
morning perfectly ... Thanks, Lillian for sharing your
wonderful words! And Happy Mother's Day to All!
Poetic
Painting
by Lillian Jane
Elizabeth & her friends,
Out sitting on the walk,
Enjoying the bright Spring morn,
And chatting while they work.
Two of them are painting,
The other soaking up the sun.
With gentle humor and quiet ways,
They're having lots of fun.
The sunlight is so perfect.
It brings out each detail,
Which they capture on their triptych,
Each brick, fence post and rail.
There is, alas, a sour note
To their idyllic plan.
'Cause when a car comes roaring by
It showers the paint with sand.
Elizabeth and her friends all know
They'll need to finish soon.
When the good light has moved away,
They'll be painting the St. L. at noon!
I love the neighborhood and everything that happened
this morning is why. WOW! What a place to live! And
yes, I will be painting the Saint Lawrence later today
as tomorrow the dismantling will begin.

I cleaned my studio the other day & came across a
photo of a cup of tea I enjoyed one Sunday morning at
Artemesia ... I thought I'd paint it as I sipped my
morning tea (I've given up drinking coffee every day
& now only have it on occassion). This orange
maracuja tea is the most beautiful color!

What a pretty girl ... just look at her long locks.
Lola looks so dignified from this stunning profile
view. I just want to pet her! :-)

We have a little market across the street from our
house & I went over there this morning to get a few
things & couldn't resist the oranges ... so
luscious. I bought 2 & cut one in half & of
course I had to eat a quarter of it as soon as I cut
it, so I was left with these pieces to paint. I painted
them at 2 different angles because they were so
beautiful! Enjoy!
